I switched up the order of meals today and had sauteed potatoes first, which ended up a little underdone because impatience was involved. They were still delicious and filling.
Then I continued on my quest to find affordable organic sheets and took along a carrot-apple juice.
Yumminess on the go
Today I used seven different apples (red delicious, ambrosia, pink lady, cameo, autumn greeting, fuji, and braeburn) and twelve carrots to produce two and a half bottles of juice. Fortified with juice and carrots, my mom and I headed up to the outlet mall. The juice quickly disappeared (fresh apple juice is better than any other "apple juice" I have tasted from a store, and I can't really taste the carrots), and baby carrots were the only thing standing between us and hunger.
Along the way we stopped at Costco to visit with my dad a little bit and check out what they had in terms of organic produce and bedding. Sheets were a bust, but they did have an assortment of vegetables: baby spinach, baby green mix, baby kale, and baby carrots. Does Costco think being organic is infantile?
Our first stop (and, really, the only place I thought would have any organic sheets) at the outlet mall was Pottery Barn, and, while they did have organic bedding, the king set was $99.99, about twice as much as what Target's set. No other offerings were to be found, but I did trade in my old, worn out Crocs flip-flops for a new pair of leather Ocean Minded sandals, receiving 15% off for donating the pair I was wearing to be recycled by Crocs.
We went back to Costco on our way home and bought some more baby carrots and the baby mixed greens to try. We then proceeded to Jungle Jim's (why do I always forget to bring my camera?) to hunt for lemons, a few more potatoes, a gift for my grandfather (horseradish and sauerkraut), and floss (carrots find their way into all of my teeth's nooks and crannies).
Once my mom and I were home, we, along with my dad, had a dinner of watermelon while finishing our week-long poker game (my dad came in first, then me, and my mom went home broke - I love you, Mom!).
All in all a successful fourth day!
Notes for the future:
- carrots are worse than meat for my teeth, so carry floss when munching
- still need to experiment more with the mean green juice
- more pictures
